At Eckhart Beer Co., we brew beers modeled on and inspired by the European lager tradition, a culture built on hundreds of years of hard work and perfectionism. Rather than brew dozens of different styles, we choose to focus on a narrow range–by doing fewer things, we can give them all the attention they deserve.
We invite you to our taproom to enjoy the fruits of this labor as intended: poured carefully into appropriate glassware, accompanied by thoughtful food, and enjoyed in good company.
We aim to practice and preserve the dying art of slowing down and being present, and cultivate those qualities in those around us.
From beer production to taproom service, we strive to bring focus and care to all our work, and cultivate them in those around us.
"The most important hour is always the present. The most significant person is precisely the one sitting across from you right now." --Meister Eckhart
We source our malt and hops from traditional lager-producing areas in Europe and brew using practices that allow their quality to shine through.
Our beer is fermented slowly at cold temperatures, and given ample time to mature. Through stillness and time come clarity of appearance and flavor.
Making great beer is just one part of the process — at Eckhart we offer a complete hospitality experience, which includes table service, a full food menu, and ample options for those who prefer to drink something other than beer.
Our taproom is has spaces suitable for a large group or a cozy date night, and we can handle private parties of up to 200 guests.
We are a 5-minute walk from the Jefferson Street L train stop, and there are multiple Citibike docks in our area. Parking in our area is unreliable, so we do not recommend driving here.
Per the DOH rules, only service animals as defined by the ADA are allowed in the taproom, and they must be under the control of their handlers at all times.
Please do not try to pass your pet off as a service animal; not only is lying about having a disability terrible for your karma, but it puts us all in the uncomfortable position of having to ask you to leave if your pet misbehaves.
We have a limited number of reservations available through Resy.
For parties larger than 8, please call the taproom at 718-821-1946 or email us at info@eckhartbeer.com.
Our menu has various vegetarian and vegan options, and we aim to accommodate all dietary restrictions or preferences as much as possible.
Yes, we have a small but thoughtful list of wines and ciders, bottled sodas, and house-made non-alcs (see our drink menu).
We do not have a cocktail program, but we may occasionally have an off-menu specialty or two, so ask your server if you’re curious.
Yes. Packaged beer for pickup can be purchased here.
In the interest of promoting social interaction, we do not have televisions, but we do have a projector and screen which we will fire up for special sporting events and the like, so check our calendar for notifications.
Our name is inspired by Meister Eckhart, a 13th-century German mystic and theologian who taught the importance of embracing quiet and presence in order to achieve spiritual and mental clarity.
When a beer is lagered, it sits still and cold for a long period of time, during which it becomes brilliantly clear, and the flavors of the raw ingredients shine through.
Similarly, by quieting our minds and bringing ourselves fully into the present moment, we humans can realize what is truly important in our lives.
